Just trying out the Debian based Sail. In the 4.0.0 branch the firewall is adjustable by double clicking an entry. But in 4.0.1-20 it will add a new line but then is not editable.

Is 4.0.0-127 better for production?

The likelihood is you've created an illegal firewall rule in some way and shorewall doesn't like it.   You can edit the shorewall riles directly at the CLI.  They are in /etc/shorewall/sark_rules
